1st day in India!
17th november, 5 AM, plane landed and welcome to India :-)!
for first 24h in this country, I can say it was great experience, I had riksha ride (fastest and cheapest way of transport in Mumbai), seen Bollywood movie in cinema and had party with AIESEC trainees here.
Mumbai is extremely crowded city, traffic is unbelievable! I need about 2h just to get to work from my hotel. Btw. I’m currently in hotel (Oritel), quite nice place, but not so close to city center :-). First thing I needed to adjust to is distance, here you just redefine what is far or not, so 1h is like 20 to 30 minutes in Belgrad, and I still didn’t experienced rush hour on Monday morning :-).
Riksha drive is quite an experience. If you like PC games, for sure you know what is “Need for speed” or “Carmageddon”, well riksha drive is like that :-). It’s unpredictable, and anything can happen. Yesterday night I had my first crash, riksha managed to hit another riksha, luckily it was not a truck or a bus, even dough we had few “almost” situations, but driver was Raikonen wannabe
.
Yesterday I met few trainees in Mumbai, we went for a Bollywood movie “Om Shanti Om”. This was one of the highlights of the day! Imagine latin soap opera of 60 series, and all that compressed in 3 hour movie! Following genres were incorporated in the movie:
- Musical (see the video, gret stuff :-))
- Action
- Romance
- Thriller
- Comedy
- SF (reincarnation and ghosts, crazy stuff :-))
Also, they have a break on the middle of the movie, so you can stretch your legs and buys some refreshments. Movie was great, I need to buy DVD, so I can understand the dialogues (btw. it’s all on Hindi, with no subtitles).
On Monday is my first working day, and first experience of rush hour (2h to work!). Looking forward to see the company (Tata Consultancy Services).
Namaste for now, and stay tuned ![]()
