Lost trainee
This Wednesday I experienced something you allways hear on these AIESEC exchange sessions. Adventure stories, as I call them.
On Wed night new trainee from Brazil, Rafaela, was coming to Mumbai. I was unavailable to meet her at the airport, that day trains stopped for few hours, and whole city was paralised. I got home almost at 23h. Something about half past midnight, when I was preparing to get some sleep, phone starts ringing. Vivek from AIESEC called asking for Rafaela phone number, cause they were at the airport for one and a half hour, but no sign of her!
Imagine this, my first trainee, a girl, coming late night in Mumbai, no trace! We started calling for the hotel she was suppose to stay, calling on her mobile, no success. until 2 AM we were going crazy. Nothing could be done that evening, we were thinking she found some hotel and went for a sleep. I thought, best will be to start calling early morning, and she has our phones so she will call us.
Next morning I came to work, dialed her mobile, and some guy answers…her boyfriend in Brazil, she left the mobile! Unlucky guy was woken up by me in early morning. Again no way to find her. Then, after a while, Juliana picks up the phone on her old desk (we were moved to another box day before), and that was Rafaela! My god, I felt like 1000kg went off my back. She didn’t had any phone number, the only contact was our office number from which we called her for the interview.
She waited on the airport until 1 AM, and then she found a free transfer to the hotel, where she slept for the night. AIESEC didn’t had her picture, so they were unable to find her so easily (tip: if you are going abroad, and someone new is picking you up, SEND A PIC!). At the end everything finished good, but with series of coincidence and extreme luck. She is safe and sound, and going to Bangalore this Sunday!
Btw. I matched two more interns, so we are having associate from Peru and Brazil from January!
