Friday night in Mumbai…
Friday night! After a week of 9 to 5 work, full of stress and deadlines, friday comes…solution for everything!
This Friday DJ Roog, famous Dutch DJ was a guest star in Club Poison (Bandra (W), Mumbai). We managed to get on the guest list, 10 couples. But, as always, something went wrong. From 10 couples we got only 4 girls, so at the end 5 guys stood up, without any chance to get in. Even dough Meenal and I tried to explain to the manager our girls got in, guys came late, it was simply like speaking to the rock!

After 30 mins of speech we were either to get in, or to be kicked out … of course, we choosed the option No1, get the hell in.
Club looks great! Big dance floor, blasting sound system (so good, you even feel your hair moving with the bass) and lightshow. Drinks are half of the price of those in China House or Enigma, so it was a love at first sight. Also, on entrance I managed to meet the owner of the club, and the manager. You will see later why it was good to meet them ;-).
It became crowded quite fast, and something around midnight DJ Roog started to spin the records. Mix was amaising! High energy, body moving, simply - keeping you on the dancefloor all night. Something after 1:30 we went into the black room where they played R’n'B tunes (little rest for your ears from the house mix :-)). Mix was quite good, but we decided to move to China House, cause some of our friends were there and it was getting empty in Poison.
In the mean time we used the benefit of illegal drinks and food stores, to buy some vodka and food. I was starving, so got some chicken haka noodles, my personal favourite from Chinese food menu. Noodles disapeared quite fast, so after 15mins we were in front of China House. Because of the soya sauce used in the noodles, I got my hands all “soyish” and got fast in the toilet to clean myself.
I’m writting this non relevant things, cause the next thing that happened made our night spicier :-). As soon as I exited, I met Prashant in front of the WC waiting for Anna, his girlfriend. We were minding our business when at one moment a girl standing next to us started to yell and swear on us! Quite crazy, Prashant replied, I tried to calm things, cause she was obviusly wasted. But, then she starts making a scene and calling security. In bewteen, we started calling Anna on the mobile, cause who will believe two guys standing in front of ladies room, that we wait for girlfriend, and she is not out for 15 mins. Murphy law got on, Anna forgot her phone at home!
Security came, and after explanation and more scenery made by that girl, Anna finally got out, and all of us got in front of the club to resolve the issue. Girls boyfriend was some big shot in the club, shorter for a head in comparison to me :-)…but he was “the daddy” in China House. Even dough it was clear what happened, we were politely asked to go out, just not to make the scene (the girl was so crazy and drunk, it was impossible to control her, so better to leave). Then we called “the joker” and asked for the manager to resolve issue, it was unfair to us. To make to long story short, manager understood our point and wanted to make up for the fault, so from this night we got our entry ticket for the parties…just call for the manager ;-).
This was my first contact with poshy Indian girls, and I might say, not impressed…no manners, wannabe stars, getting attention by making scenes, maybe looked good, but no brains. Just hope this was the rare exception.
Shortly after the incident club was closing, and we catch up with few of our friends heading home. Then I met again the manager of the club (Poison), got his number and some very valuable information…P Diddy is in town next month, starring in Poison! Beside that, I met some girls from Poison exiting China House, so night was getting better.
Few moments after, we found ourself in side a car, heading for an after party in Bandra. A friend of our had a friend who organized a party. We came there, nice appartment, stylish…got some drinks, and after 20mins, strong knocks on the door…police came!
Usually this would not be an issue, but this was not a regular police. They were coming from the Narcotics department, by the tip (probably some neighbour) that we are having some heavy drugs. First thing that popped on my mind was - please god, not Indian jail!
But, as this is India, things go differently than in rest of the world. Guys exited with the owner to talk. In the meatime, we were alone in the appartment, but sourounded by the police. It was quite strange, if you search for some drugs, you search everyone there from the first moment. No, they went out, and if we even had some drugs, you could easily throw it away in the toliet. The problem was something different, they wanted money. And this is why owner was negotiating with them for almost an hour. In the meantime we were walking from the appartment to the place where they were talking just to see what is happening. After some time, we went home, noone knows why they didn’t send us home at start, and why did we waited…still mistery for me. As I heard, owner was taken to the police station afterwards, and this is the only info we have till now…
I persume that at the end they just wanted to get some bribe from him, when they couldn’t find any illegal stuff. Hope he got OK out of it…
Friday passed, experience I will remeber for a while :-)!
Btw. great news - Paul Van Dyk and DJ Tiesto are coming in February in India! I was waiting to see Paul Van Dyk live for a long time…and finally!!! Stay tuned for more news ;-).
